—The Homewood Cemetery has always been more than just a final resting place. It is a quiet refuge for joggers and lunchtime patrons. It is visited by bird watchers, students of all ages and disciplines and professional groups of all kinds. It is a ‘living’ museum, rich with a historic Lawn Park landscape and architecturally significant buildings and monuments. It is filled with the histories of generations of distinguished men and women who made considerable contributions to the history of Pittsburgh and America. The Homewood Cemetery is conveniently located near the center of Allegheny County, in the historic East End (Squirrel Hill) area of Pittsburgh and next to the cultural and academic center of Oakland. The cemetery ground are open daily, year-round, for visiting and quiet reflection or consider attending one of our many events. World War I will be the focus of the 5th annual Homewood Cemetery Founders' Day Celebration August 17, 12 noon - 6 p.m. Join us for an afternoon of music, art, stories, vintage cars, and food trucks on the beautiful grounds of The Homewood Cemetery in Squirrel Hill. All events are free, family friendly, and open to the public!
