Companions & Homemakers, Inc., a privately owned and operated Connecticut company, has been serving the state's older adults with specialized home care and live-in services since 1990. Our model has been one of client-centered home care that emphasizes the social and personal requirements of senior citizens who are in need of some assistance with activities of daily living and health care while preserving their right to remain independent, safe and secure in the comfort of their homes or residential settings.

Our live-in companions provide 24 hour-a-day supervision, with continuous monitoring and coordination of daily activities. They help maintain a safe and comfortable home environment that allows your loved one to remain independent for as long as possible.

Our Support Services include:

Cooking, cleaning laundry and simple household chores
Personal care, such as bathing, dressing, and incontinence care
Maintenance of medication schedules
Telephone calls, errands, transportation to recreational activities and family events

Geriatric care needs vary widely and change often. At Companions & Homemakers we offer the flexibility necessary to provide care that is right for your loved one and your family. Many of our staff has training and experience to help your loved one in special circumstances. For instance, our caregivers can drive your loved one to treatments such as dialysis, chemotherapy and radiation. They will stay with them during the treatment, pick up any additional medications prescribed and report any instructions given by medical personnel.

Companions & Homemakers proudly employs over 1,300 individuals and cares for over 2,100 older adults state-wide. You can be confident in our caregivers; their compassion and dedication makes us truly unique. We place a high priority on recruiting sincere, honest and nurturing people who best meet the individual needs of our clients. We thoroughly screen and interview all caregivers to ensure they are able to live up to the high standards we have set. In addition, we take care of the details and accept the responsibility for hiring, bonding, training, and supervising our caregivers. We also assume responsibility for payroll and all related payroll taxes and provide Workers' Compensation insurance.

Companions & Homemakers is an active member of the National Private Duty Association (NPDA) and a founding member of the NPDA's Connecticut Chapter. The NPDA was founded in 2002 to develop quality and best practice standards for the industry and educate consumers about home care. It is the nation's most respected association of private duty home care providers.
