Veterans and Widows of Veterans
If you are suffering from financial hardship due to reduced income, illness, injury, unemployment, or other life crisis, you may qualify for substantial assistance in payment of:
Rent • Mortgage • Food • Utility bills • Clothing • Hygiene needs • Dental Care, including dentures • Eyeglasses and vision care • Hearing aids • Other necessities of life
Veterans who receive medical care at Veterans Administration Hospitals may also qualify for free medical transportation assistance. War-time era veterans may additionally be entitled to free or low-cost long term care at the Ohio Veterans Home.
VETERANS: You may be eligible for free medical care and prescription benefits, plus monthly compensation up to $2,300 if you suffer from:
Vietnam Veterans
(You must have served “in-country”)
• Diabetes
• Lung or other respiratory cancer
• Prostate cancer
• Hodgkin’s or Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
• Sarcoma
• Multiple Myeloma
• Chronic lymphocytic leukemia
• Selected other medical conditions
World War II and Korean War Veterans
(You must have served “in-country” and have sustained frostbite
or other cold weather injury)
• Arthritis
• Cold sensitization
• Amputations
• Peripheral neuropathy
• Certain other medical conditions involving the hands and feet
“Atomic” Veterans
(exposed to radiation through atomic bomb testing/development, or assigned
to Occupied Hiroshima or Nagasaki)
• Cancers and malignant tumors
• Cataracts
• Thyroid and parathyroid disease
