Stapeley In Germantown
A Continuing Care Retirement Community in Philadelphia
Building community for 100 years
Stapeley in Germantown is a Quaker sponsored Continuing Care Retirement Community, (CCRC), located in Historic Germantown. It was founded in 1904 as the Boarding Home for the Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting. The original building, on its five-acre site, was a gift from Quaker philanthropist, Anna T. Jeanes, who founded Stapeley to meet the needs of “aged and infirmed Friends and those in sympathy with us.”
Today, Stapeley carries the seal of a nationally accredited Continuing Care Retirement Community and provides three dimensions of living accommodations: apartments for residential living, a personal care community and a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center. Accreditation provides the assurance that the community meets Commission standards for resident health and wellness; financial resources, resident life and service; and governance and administration. It offers a standard for comparison of CCRC’s.
The year 2004 marked Stapeley’s Centennial anniversary and 100
years of service to our Community, a community that includes the neighborhoods
of Germantown, Mount Airy, Chestnut Hill, Roxborough and Center City Philadelphia.
Through the next 100 years, Stapeley will continue to grow and provide
service and care to meet every need.
Stapeley West offers residential living in 42 private apartments that range in size from Studio to two bedrooms with a den. Stapeley Hall, the historic original building is now our Personal Care Community with 69 private accommodations, a spacious parlor, library and plant room. The HealthCare Center offers 120 skilled nursing and rehabilitation beds.
The entire community is connected by a glass-enclosed walkway that overlooks acres of hardwood forest and walking paths. And yet you are only nine miles from the arts and activity of center city Philadelphia.
