The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is a not-for-profit organization that serves individuals aged 55 and over who wish to donate their time, talent, and energy to the community. RSVP currently works with approximately 1,000 volunteers and 120 not-for-profit organizations.

Individuals who volunteer through RSVP can select from a wide range of opportunities. Volunteer positions in education, the environment, health agencies, nursing homes, and community service agencies exist in locations throughout the county. The diversity of the positions available through RSVP allows the agency to locate volunteer opportunities that offer challenges to the most active individual. Likewise, the agency is able to identify opportunities for an individual who may have physical limitations (including homebound seniors), transportation limitations, geographic preferences, or agency preferences.

Several volunteer benefits are available to individuals who serve through RSVP, which includes:

. Supplemental accident and liability insurance
. Transportation reimbursement in special cases
. Complimentary tickets to cultural events
. Recognition in the form of pins, certificates, and an annual luncheon
. A subscription to the RSVP newsletter, The Golden Echo.
